Parent Governor Vacancy – nominate now

Huxlow’s Governing Body has a vacancy for a Parent Governor. All parents/carers are invited to stand for election, or nominate another parent to do so.

The Governing Board, with the Headteacher, has overall responsibility for the running of the Academy. The Board have three core strategic functions:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the Academy and its pupils; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the Academy and making sure its money is well spent.

No special qualifications are needed and the most important thing is to have a keen interest in the Academy and be prepared to play an active part in the Board of Trustees’ work; in particular to demonstrate:

  • An interest in the performance of the Academy and our students’ future.
  • A desire to make a difference to the lives of young people.
  • The confidence to ask questions, debate issues, listen and learn.
  • The ability to work well with others.
  • Time, energy and enthusiasm
  • Readiness to accept responsibility.

We would particularly welcome nominations from parents with experience in financial planning, marketing, IT and Premises Management.

The attachment below summarises the circumstances under which someone cannot serve as a trustee.
