Design Technology donation will make a difference for all Huxlow students

The Design Technology (DT) department at Huxlow Science College are delighted to have received a donation of £8280 from the Finedon Educational Charity, to purchase a set of 24 laptops for students to use in DT. Miss K Campbell, Assistant Learning Leader for DT said “This equipment will make a difference to every student that does Design Technology throughout Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. They will be able to use the laptops for a wide variety of activities including laser cutting, 3D printing and their coursework.”

The Finedon Educational Charity was founded in 1980 to “promote the education and development of young people living in Finedon”. A piece of land that was left to the charity has since been sold and the money invested; the income from the investment is made available to individuals, groups or schools in and around Finedon for educational purposes.

Huxlow were pleased to welcome trustees of the charity, Revd Richard Coles and Brian Foster, on Thursday 3rd March 2016, who toured the DT facilities, talked with students and presented a cheque. Brian Foster said “We have given away £43863 during the year. It’s a legacy that was left to us which we are now passing on to whoever comes to us.”
